Artesania Latina – Chinese Junk “Red Dragon”. Still in use in many parts of Southeast Asia, these boats were used for both war and for trade. The appearance of Junks is documented about 600 BC. The hull has no keel and has a short stern; its sails are made of thick fabric reinforced with reeds. It was one of the most used boats for piracy off the coast of Southeast Asia. The Kit is built on a frame formed by the false keel and bulkheads stationed along it’s length. Kit includes laser cut timber sheets, hardwood, brass, die-cast metal fittings and fabric for sails.
