Artesania – ” La Fayette Hermione” Built 1778 in the arsenal of Rochefort, near the Corderie Royale. On March 21, 1780, the Marquis LaFayette boards “L’ Hermione”. It sailed for America to fight on the side of the American insurgents who were fighting for independence. Two centuries later, in 1997, a replica of “L’ Hermione” was built, which in 2015 completed the same journey of the original ship. The scale model is made with precision laser cut plywood pieces; wood and birch veneer; wood and brass; high quality photo-etched brass pieces. The cotton sails are sewn by hand and ready to be fitted. A display stand is included. A DVD contains a simple step-by-step guide with more than 2,000 images, but also shows the techniques of ship modelling.
